Iran’s Esteghlal have been eliminated from AFC Champions League after suffering a 2-1 loss against Pakhtakor of Uzbekistan in the Round of 16.
Esteghlal took the lead 32 minutes into the match after Ali Karimi scored with a brilliant curling free kick.
But Pakhtakor came from behind as Dragan Ceran scored the equalizer with a nice header before the halftime.
The Uzbek club piled up the pressure and Eren Derdiyok scored the winner with a powerful strike passed the keeper in the 48th minute. Pakhtakor now join Al-Ahli Saudi FC in the last eight.
