Ghazal Alagh, the co-founder of Mamaearth, is well-known for her wellness posts on social media. Recently, she initiated a discussion on work-life balance and shared her strategy for following a ‘no digital distraction’ rule on April 28. She encouraged her followers to take up the #noscreenchallenge as well.

In a post on X, Alagh talks about her no phone for five hours rule every Sunday and how she follows simple living during those hours. “Every Sunday, I have a rule: No phone for 5 hours. I follow something called the ‘No Digital Distraction Rule’. Uss time mein, I do simple living like family ke sath time spend karna, bachon ke saath park mein jana, reading, or just being, etc. (I practice simple living during this time like spending time with my family, going to the park with my kids, reading or just being, etc),” she wrote.

“Disconnecting will help you find joy in simple living, which is getting lost these days. It will help you connect with yourself better. So take the #noscreenchallenge this Sunday and let me know how it makes you feel,” she added.

Ghazal Alagh’s post on no digital distraction struck a chord with social media users, garnering over 16,000 views and several reactions. “Haha, I tried that once but ended up arguing with my toaster for not having an ‘airplane mode’. Safest way to avoid a burnt toast is by sticking to my phone!” a user shared. “There is a humoungous life outside the screen,’ another user commented.

“That seems like a good challenging goal for myself!” another user wrote. Alagh made headlines after sharing a lengthy LinkedIn post on April 24. She claimed that the founders of Infosys, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Netflix do not believe in work-life balance, and that the definition of work-life balance is often misunderstood.
