Minister: Iran ready to cooperate with Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan

Eslami made the remarks in a meeting with Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Vasif Talibov.

Both sides discussed cooperation in energy and transportation fields as well as launching Nakhchivan-Mashad railway and creating connection between Nakhchivan and other areas in Azerbaijan through Iran.

Meanwhile, Talibov hailed new situation in the region, saying all regional states, including Armenia, can take advantage of it.

Iran and Azerbaijan have always been friends and have had close ties, he added.

Nakhchivan has used all facilities and has made all investments in railway and road sectors, he said, adding that the country has created an opportunity for the regional states to maintain interactions.

Eslami arrived in Azerbaijan Republic’s capital city of Baku atop a delegation on Tuesday evening.

Upon arrival in Baku, the Iranian minister in a meeting with the press referred to his visit of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic and said that the objective of his visit to Nakhichevan was visiting the transportation infrastructure of that republic aimed at development of the transportation and goods’ transiting.
