The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) expressed worry over the Afghan people’s poor economic status after the Taliban took control, stating that millions of people in the nation are enduring economic difficulties.
“Humanitarian activities, although necessary, are insufficient, and we must concentrate on people’s livelihoods. The reason for this is simple: we now have millions of people on the edge of economic collapse, on top of the millions who are already suffering from humanitarian crises and obstacles. We want to be clear: if we want to minimize the humanitarian burden in Afghanistan, we must focus on livelihoods “According to Tolo News, UNDP resident representative in Afghanistan Abdallah Al Dardari stated.
He also said that humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan is insufficient and that Afghanistan would not remain stable without economic growth.
According to Tolo News, the UNDP’s chief in Afghanistan said that the agency is striving to address the people’s basic requirements.
Meanwhile, the World Food Program (WFP) confirmed on Twitter that humanitarian supplies to Afghanistan would continue.
According to UN estimates, 23 million Afghans are presently hungry, and 95% of Afghans do not have enough food to eat three times in a 24-hour period. (ANI)
